Do you like the travel & tourism industry and organizing events? Are you eager to assist customers in realizing their most unforgettable memory of their holiday or event? Register for the Tourism, Events & Experience Marketing Management minor of NHL Stenden University of Applied Science in Emmen.
The minor is part of the program Commerce, and prepares you to analyze the travel, tourism and event industry. This will help you when you would like to start to work in the field of tourism and events, both in the Netherlands and abroad. You will amass knowledge in the areas of (sustainable) tourism and destination management, experience and online marketing, event management, finance, cross cultural management, market research and communication.
Tourism is one of the fastest growing industries in the world and is related to hospitality, people and experiences. It is also an industry that has to adapt quickly to changes in consumer behavior and trends. Events create live communication platforms in an era where digitalization is playing an important role. But how do you differ? This requires creativity, business and organizational skills. To gain the competences required to be successful, you will learn by doing through assignments. This means that you really develop and create inspiring tours, (re)brand destinations. Furthermore, you will organize and carry out a memorable event and organize your own field trip. This international field trip is a compulsory part of the minor and additional costs apply (approximately €450)
In order to fully prepare you for your Kies op Maat study at NHL Stenden, an introduction day -together with incoming exchange students from abroad- is scheduled. During this days you will get a campus tour, meet teachers and staff, learn how to use (ICT) facilities on campus. Therefore we expect you to be present this day.
This minor is based on the competencies taken from the competency profile of Commerce and Tourism Manager. In your portfolio you have to prove that you possess the relevant competencies on a sufficient level, and you have to relate them to the professional profile of Commerce.
