E-preneurship E-commerce & E-fulfilment

Today’s economy is rapidly changing because of the strong growing E-commerce businesses. During this minor, students will develop knowledge and skills in E-commerce & E-fulfilment areas and acquire entrepreneurial competences to make an online business successful. These competences are inevitable in case of future independency (entrepreneurship) and highly appreciated in corporate management positions (intrapreneurship / business development manager). Both of these scenarios are focused on exploring new opportunities and business building, in order to create economic value. They therefore are of key economic and social importance in modern society.

Managing hyper growth in a physical e-commerce environment
Mechanization versus HR planning – How to Manage peak periods?

The introduction phase provides the students the theoretical basis needed to be able to gain more in-depth knowledge about e-fulfilment and to apply the obtained knowledge and competences later on in the advanced phase, by carrying out projects for real e-commerce players. These projects will be guided by their internal (teacher) and external (company) coach. Hence, this minor has follows a combination of knowledge comprehension (understanding) and application (using the knowledge).

At the end of the minor, students will have broader knowledge about abovementioned topics, understand the relation between the topics and can apply the knowledge in real projects. In doing so, they investigate, analyze, improve and and develop (new) business opportunities within an (internationally operating) e-commerce company. The acquired competences are of great importance for achieving success in the emerging world of online commerce. According to Thuiswinkel.org, the organization representing the e-commerce industry in the Netherlands, there is currently a significant shortage (and therefore high demand) for competent managers with these qualities.
