This minor is examines American popular culture and modern American literature. The four interdisciplinary minors in American Studies offered here provide a critical understanding of the most powerful and influential country in the world from a wide variety of perspectives. American culture and society seem familiar through the pervasive popular culture and mass consumer products, but its politics and international posture of the US also raises many questions.

3. Research Seminar: Identity and Cultural Diversity LET-ETCAMB212 (5 EC)

Students acquire knowledge about American culture and society from a number of disciplinary perspectives.

This minor can be followed independently from the other minors. However, minors 3 and 4 can be combined into a full-semester follow-up minor of 30 EC in American Studies. Minor 2 and 4 can be combined to form a full track of American Culture and Literature.

De meeste roosterinformatie zal ruim een maand voor aanvang van het semester beschikbaar komen: eind juli voor semester 1 en eind december voor semester 2.

This minor is designed for students at universities of applied science (hogescholen) who are interested in acquiring in-dept knowledge of American culture and society as part of their curriculum. For talented and ambitious students in programs such as journalism, history, cultural heritage, communication or European studies this minor can be used as preparation for a Master program in Transatlantic Studies (North American Studies).
