Minor content
Statistics and Research Training involves ‘on-the-job’ training at the European Tourism Futures Institute (ETFI), the research department of the Academy of Leisure & Tourism Management of NHL Stenden. Research methods will deal with regional and town policy and planning in the field of tourism. Part 1 includes Statistics and consists of getting to know and apply statistical methods. Part 2, Research Training prepares for conducting scientific research, in addition to practical research. The training consists of applying statistics for a research paper, supported by guest lectures of ETFI researchers. 

This minor is part of the Premaster Tourism Geography and Planning.  

The goal is to acquire competences in statistics and research skill to be able to enroll in a Master program in the social sciences. The minor has been developed in cooperation with the department of Cultural Geography, University of Groningen and will enable students of Leisure and Tourism Management to enroll in the master Cultural Geography, track Tourism Geography and Planning. For other Master programs, please contact the Master program of your choice directly for specific requirements regarding statistics.

• Internal students: Completion of 2nd Year Bachelor management program. Accessible for students of the following institutes: ABA, BE, CE, HRM, IBL, IBMS, IHM, LE, LM, MEM, SBRM, ITM.  
• External students: Equivalent of completion of 2nd Year Bachelor management program. Prior to subscription, please email the contact person for specific requirements.

The assessment of both the statistics course and the research training centers on a research paper – as inspired by the design of the Bachelor’s thesis for the Human Geography & Planning program provided by the Faculty of Spatial Sciences. This research paper should have a strong focus on the relationships between tourism, geography and town and country planning.
