Do you want to strengthen your ability to conduct artistic research as part of your art or design practice? In this exchange programme, we delve into visual artistic research.

We practice various research methods and develop our own. You will learn to use questioning as a driving force in a visual creative process and explore how to connect content and form. We collectively reflect on concepts such as 'knowledge' and 'intuition.' You have ample space to continue your own design or art practice.

While guidance emphasizes artistic research, we also focus on sharing and manifesting the research. Practical lessons introduce research methods and discuss various forms of research, including source research, material research, reflective research, exploration/collection, experimentation, etc. In theory, we explore discussions around artistic research and philosophize about what 'knowledge' is.

• Learn to use, employ, and develop various artistic research methods for your design or art practice.
• Familiarise yourself with the discourse around artistic research and interpret various perspectives.
• Explore philosophy of science, describing concepts like 'truth,' 'knowledge,' and 'intuition' from a philosophical standpoint.
• Develop your art or design practice in a way that makes artistic research a relevant component.
• Learn to communicate about your research, share it, and manifest the outcomes.

For whom? 

• Students who have completed their propaedeutic year in the field of the arts.
• Students from programs like Fine Arts, Design, or related fields.
• Students looking to develop their own practice, craving autonomy, and interested in conducting artistic research.

This semester offers approximately 2,5 days of education per week. Additionally, you will work independently on your assignments within your team.

In this minor, the assessment is integral. You will be assessed on your process and your end product.
