International LivingLab: Good life, health and wellbeing

Curious about how you can contribute to a happier, healthier and more inclusive society? This progrogramme will provide you with tools to think and act more like a global professional and help you develop comptences in order to collaborate regionally, internaitonally and interdisciplinairy. You will individually explore and work on your vision of the future proof professional within your field of work. You will learn to interact with people from different (professional) cultures and be challenged in many ways to increase your curiosity and open-mindedness, gain some self-awareness and self-confidence in international groups and learn to respond in unexpected and uncertain situations.

Innovation and Design in Globalizing Health and Welfare (10ECTS credits): The student designs in an interdisciplinary group a sustainable product or service for an international wicked challenge in health and welfare, which is aimed at supporting the good life of the target group. The student describes the target group and the context of the wicked challenge and views the wicked challenge from various international perspectives. The student uses technics of applied research practice to design the product or service. The student justifies the choices made during the development and explains how the design contributes to good life of the target group by using the framework goodlife. The student also describes how the product or service can be further developed or implemented.   The student gains insights and underding in sociatal challenges, locally an dglobally. And how they affect peolpe and families lives, health and wellbeing. THink of poverty, migration and refugee, mental health, welvaartziekten, addiction, inaqualities . 

Families in crisis (5 ECTS credits): The student choses one of the themes within this course and interacts within an international peer projectgroup  online and face-to-face. The projectteam undertakes a step by step assignment in order to do an international orientation within the theme of this course. The student uses basic research skills; like literature study and interviewing to obtain information to get an understanding of one's own system and share and compare their findings with another countrie(s) in international projectgroups. The projectgroup presents their findings and conclusions in a scholarly fashion by creating a virtual group presentation to inform other professionals about health care and welfare system in different countries. 

Youth and Media Literacy (5 ECTS credits): The student becomes an international media literate professional by analyzing the challenges of youth, parents and educators about media literacy based on theoretical knowledge and practical skills.  The student compares media policies from their home country to others. The student gives recommendations on how to improve (a part of) media literacy in their home country. The recommendations are appropriate to the developmental phase and level of the target group. The student will also consider ethical and cultural dimensions to media-related challenges. The student articulates and defends their recommendations based on (scientific) literature and established theories about media literacy and child development in a medialized societies.  The student critically examines their own frame of reference with regard to current themes about media (literacy) and formulates the impact they can have in their profession in relation to issues of media literacy use. 

The Global Professional (5 ECTS credits): The student develops a personal development plan based on a self-analysis about cultural and international competences and the inner development goals framework. The plan contains personal learning goals linked to the sustainable development goals. The student applies the plan in an international or intercultural professional context. The student indicates cultural differences. The student links the development of his own international competences to the (future) practice of his profession. The student reflects on the plan by using 360 degrees feedback-/forward. The student describes and justifies how the international learning experiences have contributed to his professional development by using relevant international literature and illustrates this by examples.

Future Proof Profession (5 ECTS credits): The student analysis a current international health or welfare challenge related to their discipline.
