During this minor you will learn the necessary skills to improve your written and spoken English in order to function at a proficient level of English in a professional or academic environment. You will acquire the necessary confidence to express yourself effectively, fluently and accurately, this combined with a knowledge of the cultural background of Great Britain will equip you with the skills and know-how to function as an international professional.   

The minor consists of three CPE exams (writing, listening and reading and use of English) and an oral and written exam for the Aspects of Britain. If possible, the minor also includes a trip to the UK. 

A successful result means that you will receive a HBO Diploma at C1/C2 Level. 

For those of you who wish to take the official external Cambridge Proficiency (ESOL) Exam this is at your own expense. However, we strongly advise you to consult your teacher for advice before enrolling for the test. 

• Improve your English language skills to Cambridge Proficiency level (C1/C2) 
• Improve your writing skills to a professional and academic standard  
• Acquire knowledge and understanding of the cultural and social background of Great Britain. 
• Speak fluently and accurately on a topic related to the Aspects of Great Britain 

This minor is open to any third or fourth year students from any recognised HBO field of study who wishes to deepen their expertise and skills in written and spoken English at the highest level. It is especially interesting for students who wish to pursue an international career or continue their studies abroad. 

Note: the required level to enter this minor is B2+/C1. You will be required to take a diagnostic entry test to determine your current level of English. 

Entry requirements:first year completed and at least 30 ECTS in bachelor degree (90 ECTS in total). Furthermore, admission to the minor is at the discretion of the examination board of the study program.
