Building Intercultural Bridges (English-Nederlands)

In the minor 'Building Intercultural Bridges' (BIB) you will explore and broaden your knowledge of the theme of cultural diversity and its associated aspects such as identity, migration, integration, globalization, cultural conflicts, image formation and intercultural communication. These topics often form the core of both political and social discussions that have an impact on the work setting. It is therefore crucial for HBO professionals to develop intercultural expertise (Global citizenship) in order to be prepared for an intercultural work setting and society.

This interdisciplinary minor focuses on working with students from different fields under the guidance of a coach on assignments on an intercultural subject of your choice. You will participate in various educational activities such as workshops, guest lectures, interactive games and theory sessions to broaden your knowledge and skills in the field of interculturality and cultural diversity. What is important is that YOU choose a topic (for example healthcare, assistance, law, education, labor market, marketing, safety, or ICT) that fits within the theme of cultural diversity that you will be working on with your interdisciplinary student group.

During the minor you will work on two assignments:

  1. your own creative assignment on an intercultural subject of your choice: for example a documentary, podcast, social media campaign, etc.
  1. your own project on a topic within cultural diversity of your choice: to contribute to awareness and/or participation around cultural diversity locally, (EUR) regionally or internationally.
