During this minor, you will immerse yourself in the world of luxury hotels, exploring key trends, ethical dilemmas, and the drivers of innovation in high-end hospitality. Rather than just having classes at school, we will embark on frequent Industry Visits, where our industry experts and luxury hotel partners will inspire us and share their insights about what truly makes a hotel luxurious. And what better place to learn than within the luxury hotels themselves?
You will also develop your own luxury hotel concept, focusing on guest experience and innovative solutions, culminating in a pitch to a luxury industry panel.

Structure of the minor

The minor The World of Luxury Hotels spans 10 weeks and earns you 15 EC. It is designed for students eager to master the luxury hotel sector, combining academic learning with real-world experience. You’ll participate in boardroom sessions, engage with industry leaders, and explore the following theme’s:

Minor includes:
Field trips: An overnight stay in Amsterdam, where you will conduct a Mystery Visit at a luxury hotel including a food experience tour. Additionally, an overnight stay in Maastricht to explore luxury concepts beyond the city limits (chateau’s).
• Weekly industry visits: Explore some of the most beautiful luxury properties, with exclusive insights from professionals who will share their expertise about the weekly theme’s.
• Weekly boardroom sessions: You will receive guidance and actively develop your luxury hotel concept.

This minor is designed for Hotel Management students and students from all other programmes with a passion for the luxury hotel industry. 

Students must have completed their first-year studies and have a keen interest in exploring luxury hospitality. As part of this program, you will participate in field trips to Amsterdam and Maastricht, costing approximately €500 per participant (covering venue, accommodation, and F&B). 

Additionally, we recommend having a weekly OV travel pass for the weekly trips to various cities, as transportation costs will otherwise be at your own expense.
