Advanced Synthesis en Analysis
If you are interested in sustainable development, choose the elective semester "Advanced Synthesis and Analysis" and deepen your knowledge in the synthesis and analysis of (bio)molecules. Develop methods to isolate and analyze various renewable building blocks (molecules) from reusable sources (e.g., food waste, plastics, etc.) and work on sustainable projects in fields such as medicinal chemistry, food technology, and circular plastics. This elective semester offers you the opportunity to create practical solutions for global challenges such as food waste and sustainable product development. Become part of this innovative program and contribute to a more sustainable future!
Minor contentThe core of the minor is a large project, for which you can choose from various topics. In addition, you will attend lectures, seminars, and practical sessions where you will learn the techniques needed during the project. You can choose from different projects in the areas of SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), or SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production).
Leerdoelen
The minor consists of the following components:
- Project (24 ECTS)
You can choose the project you will work on during the minor. The project includes supporting practical sessions, excursions, and workshops. - Elective Organic Chemistry (3 ECTS)
Advanced lessons in organic and polymer chemistry (lectures and seminars). - Elective Advanced Chemical Instrumentation (3 ECTS)
In this component, you will learn about the functioning and detection of chemical analysis techniques used (UV-VIS, Fluorescence, FTIR, mass spectrometry). - Elective Chromatography (3 ECTS)
In this component, you will learn about the most commonly used chromatographic techniques applied in a laboratory setting
