Wave Makers
Spend half a year on Terschelling and dive into sustainability in a maritime context!
In this minor, you’ll discover how to create your own positive ripple and tackle current sustainability challenges related to the sea and shipping. You’ll join lectures, workshops, and excursions covering these themes: Sustainable Development, Ecology & Ecosystem Services, and Future Seas & Shipping. Together with students from different programs, you’ll explore sustainability dilemmas through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Minor contentThis minor is a collaboration between the Maritime Institute Willem Barentsz and Van Hall Larenstein’s Coastal & Maritime Management program. Lessons are led by lecturers from both institutes, alongside guest experts and professionals from the field. You’ll work with students from a variety of backgrounds — maritime, engineering, nature, society, and management — and gain new perspectives from each other.
