Minor content

In an era of increasing geopolitical tensions, hybrid warfare and global crises, understanding how societies survive and thrive under pressure is more crucial than ever. The geopolitical landscape is changing and international freedom and democracy are being challenged.  Consequently, there is a rapidly growing requirement for Europe and its societies to be aware of and anticipate the threats, and to know how to be prepared if those threats become reality.

For a deeper understanding of this, there is a need to investigate how global power relations influence not only global and European areas, but also our own regions and how societies can strengthen their resilience in an era marked by rapid change. What are the threats, from where do they come and how will we cope if our borders, freedom and quality of life are threatened? How do we prepare for effective disaster response? How do we protect our vital infrastructure? How do we build resilient societies, safer communities?

Professionals who understand these challenges and can translate them into thoughtful, resilient strategies are in high demand. The minor A Resilient Europe: Security, Preparedness and Crisis Response at NHL Stenden offers you an ambitious programme and provides you with insights and best practices in readiness and resilience in Europe and beyond. You will explore and build on cross-border solutions and approaches. With policy advice, threat-assessments, scenario training, crisis management, simulations and other interactive exercises you will become informed practitioners.

This minor (30 ects) aims to deliver students that are well-equipped to make an impact, to build on the preparedness and resilience of Europe and its societies and thereby shape their own future.
