Why Film is right for me
• If your heart beats faster when telling stories with image and sound.
• If you want to grow into a creative maker in the world of fiction and media production.
• If you’re looking for an intensive, hands-on learning experience that ends with your own film on the big screen.
Leerdoelen
In the Film minor, you learn by doing: you develop your own script, gain a deep understanding of the production process, and collaborate intensively on a short fiction film. You'll get to know every phase of filmmaking—from pre-production to post-production and marketing. As a team, you go through the full process and learn how to plan, organize, direct, shoot, and edit. You’ll also complete individual assignments, such as interviews with professionals (directors, editors, composers), and reflect on your learning journey. You will develop skills applicable in film, television, gaming, and other forms of visual storytelling.
Ingangseisen
This minor is suited for university of applied sciences (HBO) students who are motivated to work intensively on a creative film project. A standard 9-to-5 mentality won't cut it—you need passion, dedication, and a willingness to learn by doing. Experience is not required, but you must be eager to dive into scriptwriting, filmmaking, and storytelling. Note: You’ll need a laptop or desktop with a working version of Adobe Premiere Pro.
Rooster
The schedule offers a mix of writing and production days, workshops, lectures, and coaching sessions. Expect intensive periods during filming and editing weeks. Outside regular class hours, you’ll work on your film and prepare for the premiere. Regular inspiration visits to cinemas, festivals, and institutions such as EYE or Pathé are part of the program. You work in a team but also make time for your individual learning goals and assignments.
Toetsing
You’ll be assessed based on a combination of group and individual assignments. As a team, you deliver a short fiction film, complete with a marketing plan, presentation, and premiere. Individually, you work on script development, subject-specific assignments, and reflections. Assessment focuses on your content contributions, professional attitude, creativity, and collaboration. Regular feedback moments help you adjust and grow throughout the semester.
