Health Innovation (English)
Do you want to create innovations and make a real difference in health and wellbeing?!
In the Health Innovation minor, you work together with students from various programs. Collaboration is key. Together, you tackle real healthcare challenges and develop innovative solutions. The end user is always central—everything you design is made to improve people’s lives.
You will design and test new solutions for healthcare. This can include technology, services, or smart concepts. You will be supported by experienced professionals, committed partnerand enthusiastic lecturers from Fontys.
During the minor, you work on a real-life project for an external client. You choose a project that fits your interests. Some projects focus on designing and making products or services (Service & Product Design). Other projects focus on business, implementation, or change (Business & Implementation).
This minor helps you develop the skills you need as a ‘futureproof’ professional and change agent in the healthcare sector.

Leerdoelen
During this minor, you work towards four clear learning outcomes:
You design suitable solutions together with others for real‑world challenges, using design methods. You clearly document your process and decisions.

Ingangseisen
This minor is open to all bachelor students at a university of applied sciences.
You do not need a specific background in healthcare, technology, or engineering. What matters most is that you:
- are curious and open‑minded
- your a team player with a collaborative mindset
- like to work on real challenges together with others
- are interested and enthusiastic about improving health and wellbeing
Literatuur
There are no required textbooks for this minor.
All learning materials and articles are provided during the program.
A central theme throughout the minor is Design Thinking.
- Already familiar with Design Thinking? Great—you can deepen and apply your skills.
- New to Design Thinking? No worries—you will learn it step by step, together with your team.
Rooster
The first three weeks focus on getting to know each other, working on a kick‑off project, and choosing your main project for the minor.
You will be on Campus Rachelsmolen in Eindhoven two days per week.
The other two days are project days, which you spend working with your team—at school or at your client’s location.
Toetsing
In this minor, your professional development is central. You are encouraged to take ownership of your learning process.
Throughout the minor, you present your progress to lecturers and your client. This helps you receive feedback early and adjust your approach when needed.
You track your learning and growth in a personal portfolio, which forms the basis for assessment.

Language of Instruction – Health Innovation
The program is offered in two languages: Dutch and English. Both the classes and the educational materials are available in Dutch and English. Examples of materials include engaging knowledge clips such as TED Talks, as well as scientific articles.
If there are fewer than 10 registrations, the minor will not start for English students. In case you enrolled, you will be notified a few weeks before enrollment closes.
For part-time and dual students, a part-time variant of this minor is also available. This is only in Dutch.
