Learning Outcome 1 (Virtual Production Setup):

You make use of virtual production principles and use them to solve practical challenges in content creation by investigating emerging trends in virtual production using relevant research methods. You focus on adapting the production workflow through research and validate your findings in a professional context.

Learning Outcome 2 (Virtual Production in Practice):

You create a professional level product using virtual production technology. You deploy the practical setup and ensure the quality and efficiency of your production solutions.

Learning Outcome 3 (Production team, impact and professional standard):

You design and execute a virtual production project for a defined target audience in a multidisciplinary team. You determine (and reflect on) your specialized role in your VP team. You evaluate the ethical, societal and environmental impacts and advise the stakeholders.

Learning Outcome 4 (Personal leadership):

You independently formulate goals and actions that demonstrate leadership in your own long-term development as a professional leveraging VP technology. You show that you are capable of carrying out these actions and achieving your goals, adjusting them as necessary.

To be admitted to this minor the student needs to have completed their propaedeutic phase:

Furthermore, the student needs to demonstrate the following interests and/or skills:

  • Basic knowledge of 3D-software and video editing tools (e.g. non-linear editing tools).
  • Affinity with technologies that create a bridge between physical and digital production environments.
  • Basic knowledge of programming is recommended but not required
  • Interested in working with people from other cultures and different ways of working
  • A good knowledge of the English language

These entry requirements are tested (after submitting the application) by means of cover letter and CV sent to the minor coordinator.

Rooster

Courses

You will learn the foundations of Virtual Production through engaging courses. From mastering real-time rendering in Unreal Engine to understanding LED volumes and camera tracking, you’ll gain the knowledge needed to start working on your own project during these workshops.

Challenges

Explore the practical side of Virtual Production through exciting challenges. These smaller team-based projects allow you to collaborate with students from various disciplines and experiment with immersive technologies. Develop the skills learned during workshops while preparing for real-world production scenarios.

Project

Assessment of the minor is based on an industry-related project. Work with companies, research teams, or creative organizations on real-life issues. Tailor your project to the area of Virtual Production that excites you most, whether it's film, marketing, or visualization—the choice is yours!

Toetsing

During the semester, you will build an individual digital portfolio in which you document your personal learning journey and contribution towards the group work, as well as the assignments of the subjects. You will have to show your progress and learning curve by integrating the learning outcomes in your portfolio. At each formative review, the team of teachers provides you with formative feedback on subject-specific learning outcomes and professional development. you are automatically enrolled in these assessments.

You will conclude the minor with one final summative assessment consisting of a portfolio presentation and an interview in front of the team of teachers, assessing your achievements on the learning outcomes. The assessment is graded with unsatisfactory, satisfactory, good or outstanding. For satisfactory, good or outstanding the full 30 ECTS are rewarded.
