International Class Teaching in an Urban Environment

This course aims to foster urban teaching and develop the skills that are necessary to become an effective and productive urban teacher. It is important to learn how to live and work effectively in a diverse world and to be able to apply a broader perspective to the world around you in order to become more interculturally competent.

The course consists in two parts: 

Block 1
Teaching in an Urban Environment 1 (PBL and Masterclasses) – 5 EC
Internship* week 1 - 2 EC
Intervision 1 - 3 EC
Tailormade course** 1 - 5 EC

Block 2
Teaching in an Urban Environment 2 (PBL and Masterclasses) – 5 EC
Internship* week 2 - 2 EC
Intervision 2 - 3 EC
Tailormade course** - 5 EC

* Students from Hogeschool Rotterdam will work on a project within their own school instead of doing an internship.

** You can choose e subject of your choice (e.g. Intercultural Awareness), but always in consultation with the teacher and/or coordinator.

Start:               September , in the beginning (international students have a general introduction week prior to the start of the minor)

Are you a student from another educational institution and you want to take a minor at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, you can apply in 2 steps as follows:

1)     Register for the minor of your choice via the blue button Enroll. You can find this button at the top right of the minor's page.
- Download and fill in the learning agreement
- Submit this learning agreement to the Exam Board of your study programme.
- Once the Board of Examiners has given its approval, please register for the minor in step 2 no later than 23-05-2025

2)    After approval, register in OSIRIS Aanmelding of Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences via the link below (create an account first).

Part of the registration process is to upload the following documents:

-   The learning agreement signed by you and by your institution;
-   A scan or photo of your passport or ID card;
You will receive a message from Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences whether your application has been positively assessed or not.

 

This information session is an interactive online meeting in Teams. You can join on your mobile phone, laptop or tablet.

We'll start with a short presentation about the minor. We will also show you some work of previous students. After that there is time for questions.
