Entrepreneurship
Start je Eigen Onderneming met de Ondernemerschap Minor
Do you dream of starting your own business? Or do you already have a company that you want to grow further? Then this minor is perfect for you!
Wat kun je verwachten?
Over the course of 20 weeks, you will work intensively on setting up and growing a viable business. In practice, this means developing a product or service that customers are willing to pay for—and bringing it to market for real.
You’ll have direct contact with customers and other stakeholders, create real value, and receive payment in return. This is true entrepreneurship—you’ll be getting your hands dirty and learning from experience!
The minor is bursting with energy and creative ideas, offering plenty of space to develop both your entrepreneurial skills and your business.
Collaboration and Inspiration: Diversity and the Power of Teams
What makes this minor especially unique is the opportunity to collaborate with students from various programs and disciplines across the entire RBS! This creates an inspiring environment where ideas from different perspectives come together and strengthen one another. It’s your chance to involve students with other areas of expertise in your start-up and work together as a team—or to collaborate more loosely and seek advice from other students. Research shows that diverse teams often perform better.
Guidance from Experienced Mentors
Another distinctive feature of this minor is the guidance provided by experienced start-up mentors. The lecturers and coaches all have proven track records in the world of entrepreneurship and are ready to support you throughout your entrepreneurial journey. In addition, this minor offers access to a network of inspiring entrepreneurs and investors, giving you the opportunity to connect, learn, and build valuable relationships.
Leerdoelen
1. Analyzing challenges: The first step is to select a (niche) market based on solid market analysis and well-reasoned arguments. You explore a lucrative market, identify trends and developments, and recognize patterns. You also step into the shoes of your potential customer—discovering their needs and what keeps them up at night. This analysis forms the foundation of your future business.
2. Creating value: Once you have clearly defined the main challenge of your target group, you can create value for them. You do this by developing an innovative product or service that meets a need or solves an important problem. It’s crucial to demonstrate that your target audience truly wants what you offer. That’s why you actively involve them in the development of your product or service to maximize value creation. The problem you solve may be financially driven but can also address social or environmental needs.
3. Achieving impact: You develop a viable business model. For example, you design effective strategies to reach your target audience and sell your product or service at a price that is at least competitive in the market.
4. Navigating complexity and contradictions: Entrepreneurship means trial and error. You must be able to identify opportunities, stay resilient during setbacks, and harness creativity. Learn to operate effectively in uncertain circumstances and continuously adapt. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, but evaluate advantages and risks carefully to make well-considered decisions that reflect your values and preferences.
5. Inspiring and activating others: Build genuine connections with your target customers and other key partners needed to make your business model viable, and understand what motivates them. Actively seek feedback for personal development and involve your team members, potential customers, and other stakeholders in internal and strategic changes. Translate external challenges into an inspiring vision and engage diverse groups in a tailored way.
6. Self-awareness: Practice self-regulation, including self-awareness, self-efficacy, motivation, and perseverance. Develop a clear vision of the skills you need to become a successful entrepreneur.

Toetsing
Within this program, we use programmatic assessment. Programmatic assessment is an approach to evaluation in which all data points together form a coherent whole. Instead of determining the final grade based solely on one final assessment, multiple pieces of evidence—such as assignments, feedback, and reflections—are collected throughout the minor. This allows us to assess the student’s overall development and performance in a comprehensive way.
