Sustainable Advisory in Fashion & Textiles

Impact in the fashion industry, become a sustainability advisor!

Students with knowledge of sustainability issues, new legislation, and organizational change are the change-makers of the future of the fashion and textiles industry. The aim of the minor is to train students to become sustainable advisors who can guide organizations in the fashion & textile industry through their transition to sustainable business practices. Students learn to translate theories and concepts in the fields of sustainability and change management into practical and innovative solutions.

Course content

The minor covers the most important laws and regulations concerning the sustainability of the fashion and textile industry that will be rolled out in the coming years and for which companies will need support. Topics such as change management, consulting & communication, as well as knowledge of macro and micro developments, are covered, equipping you to translate the sustainability strategy into concrete actions.

Target group

This minor is suitable for anyone interested in the fashion & textiles industry who wants to make a positive contribution to its sustainability. As a sustainable advisor, you are responsible for guiding and supporting the necessary changes in the industry. You are entrepreneurial, communicative, and able to switch between details and the big picture. You seek to connect the various departments of a fashion organization to translate the sustainability vision into concrete steps.

If you want to learn more about the challenges within the fashion and textile industry and guide companies in their transition to more sustainable practices, this minor provides the right foundation. You will develop consulting skills and learn how to help organizations implement circular business models, change strategies, and laws and regulations in the fashion and textile industry.

The minor consists of the following modules, splitted per quarter:

  2. Macro Environment & Sustainability
  3. Advice & Communication I (basic)

Quarter 2

  1. Change Management
  2. Innovation in the Fashion and Textile Industry
  3. Consulting & Communication II (advanced)

Quarter 1 & 2: Project advisory challenge

Activities
Combination of lessons and theory on various topics, always linked to practice. Additionally, workshops will be organized, along with knowledge transfer and excursions to relevant organizations. Input from professionals in the field will also be included in the program

Toetsing

Assessment methods

  • Quarter 1 is partly individually assessed based on a paper and an oral assessment. The project challenge is a group project and will be assessed based on the first part of the report advice.
  • Quarter 2 is assessed based on a change management plan

Additionally, a project consulting challenge is developed and assessed in groups at the end of Quarter 2.

How do I register?

The registration process for a Kies op Maat minor at Saxion is a bit different from what is described on the website www.kiesopmaat.nl.

How does it work?

Step 1: Download the learning agreement from the Kies op Maat website and have it signed by the examination board of your home institution. Also sign the learning agreement yourself.

Step 2: Start your enrolment via Studielink (www.studielink.nl). Go to the “Courses” tab and click on “Add new enrolment request”. Then select Saxion as the “Educational institution” and enter “Minor” or “KOM” as the search term. A list of all the minors will appear. Make sure you choose the correct minor. After the registration in Studielink, you will receive two emails: one that confirms your registration at Saxion and immediately afterwards an email with the login code and link for the Osiris registration portal. You can upload the signed learning agreement in the Osiris registration portal.
