The Social Animal at Work

Everyone in a professional career needs to be aware of D&I, especially if you are or will be responsible for others at some level. In this minor, you will explore societal challenges, such as labour market issues and the relation between organisations and societal developments and expectations. Through analysing organisational structures and roles within organisations, you learn to approach D&I from different perspectives. You will also explore behaviour, how to change it and add instruments to your professional toolbox. You will work for one or more clients to understand how D&I contribute to the performance of organisations, teams and individuals.

Minor content

This minor focusses on D&I in a professional context and deals with topics such as leadership, effective communication and social safety. By scrutinizing organizational structures, D&I policy development and implementation, you are introduced to the role D&I plays in organisations. Subsequently, you will dive deeper into the topic by reviewing D&I from different points of view, such as from the perspective of an employee, (in)formal leader, support staff, manager/director, client, student or patient. By exploring different ethical dilemmas, threats and resistance, you will enhance your understanding of these dynamics and their effects on the performance of organisations, teams and individuals.
