Minor content

Digital Literacy consists of the domains of practical ICT skills, digital information skills, media literacy and computational thinking. Here's what digital literacy is all about:

  • Effective and ethical use of digital technology
  • Digital communication and collaboration
  • Creation of digital content
  • Searching and finding information and data
  • Logical and step-by-step reasoning to solve complex issues
  • Online security and privacy

In this minor, you will not only learn what these areas mean for your professional or educational context, but you will also learn why these areas are important and how to teach students and colleagues in your context these skills, familiarize them with them and make them aware of them.

Leerdoelen

In this minor, you will work on the following learning outcomes

1. The participant demonstrates an understanding of all domains of digital literacy for their own professional context and is familiar with supporting partners and information resources.

2. The participant demonstrates translating the content areas of digital literacy into actual educational activities for young and older learners, addressing specific goals from the content lines and the continuous learning line between primary education and secondaire education exclusively and integrated undergrad.

3. The participant demonstrates on the basis of analysis of the context of the school or organization to be able to purposefully draw up and initiate an (innovative) change process regarding aspects of digital literacy.

4. The participant is able to take a pioneering role in their own team and inspire colleagues in working on the domains of digital literacy in their own education.

5. The participant designs a current improvement in the field of digital literacy, comes up with recommendations and develops a recommendation into a 'prototype' which is tested and evaluated in the professional context of the question.

Workshops, inspiration sessions and mentoring moments are organized every Thursday between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. We invite experts and organize optional (international) excursions where appropriate. The above learning outcomes have a scope of 20 EC. You can spend the remaining 10 EC on your own area of expertise or profiling related to specialist digital literacy, for example on media literacy or programming. During the minor you work on a real question from a real client (Luk 5).
