In the minor Digital Business and E-Commerce Development you work on a project, using Scrum. You work in a heterogeneous project group together with students who come from different courses, and universities. 

Your project aim is to create a solution for a problem of a company which can be solved be digitizing part of the organization. Student groups have worked on online marketing, app development, platform development, and other real-life prototypes. The projects are acquired by the teaching staff. 

The minor allows you to work with a relevant project management method and learn about latest developments in digital business and e-commerce. Overall, it supports your development as a modern-day professional! 

Minor content

In the minor Digital Business and E-Commerce Development you learn how to work together, using the project management method Scrum. You develop professional products that allow digitizing part of a company and thereby solve a problem it has. The project you work on will partly determine of the content of the module, but will often include online marketing, web development, content management, and other Digital Business and E-Commerce related subjects. Other topics are design thinking, and latest developments in Digital Business and E-Commerce (which are updated regularly).

This minor is offered by Entrepreneurship & Retail Management.

Structure of the minor

The minor Digital Business and E-Commerce Development is a minor in which all meetings and assessments are integrated into a coherent concept and your overall performance will contribute to the final assessment (and the 15EC). All classes are designed to support you in achieving this overall outcome. Classes are: 

1. Scrum events to manage your project.
2. Design workshops to help you design your professional product. 
3. Student led workshops to learn the latest developments in Digital Business and E-Commerce.
4. Coaching to help you with your personal and professional development.

Recommended knowledge

Because we ideally work with mixed student groups in multi-disciplinary teams you are welcome if you would like to work on this learning outcome: ‘Working together, using Scrum, you develop problem solving and commercially viable Digital Business and E-Commerce deliverables which can be launched by companies after minor adaptations’. This minor is usually chosen by business, management, media, ICT, design, and communication students.   

Examination

During the minor Digital Business and E-Commerce Development we observe the way you Scrum and give feedback on your project management and the deliverable continually. At the end of the minor, we score the quality of your project management using Scrum (A), the deliverable (B), and your student led workshop (C). The assessment criteria are derived from the learning outcome.
