Marketing & Social Impact (ENG) - 2025-2026

Marketing & Social Impact is designed for students who want to use marketing as a force for positive change. 
 "Discover how you can use marketing to generate not only commercial success but also real social value. In the Marketing & Social Impact minor, you’ll dive into purposeful marketing strategies and develop your own impact campaign. Create meaningful concepts that contribute to a better world and to successful organizations. Get inspired by companies like Dopper, Tony’s Chocolonely, and Patagonia—and sharpen your critical and creative thinking for the future of marketing." 

Project Examples 
  • Develop a value proposition for a socially driven organization 
     Apply the full marketing process, from target group analysis to concept development. 

  • Design and implement a social impact campaign 
     Address pressing issues such as youth vaping or sustainability at festivals.

     Explore complex topics like greenwashing, data ethics, and behavioral influence.

Leerdoelen

  • During this minor, you’ll learn how marketing strategies can be used to drive positive societal impact. In the first half, you’ll work with a client to develop a value proposition that aligns profit with purpose. In the second half, you’ll create and implement your own campaign around a social issue you care about. You'll use tools like the Triple-Layered Business Model Canvas, Marketing Design, and the Build-Test-Learn method. Through coaching, expert sessions, and feedback, you'll improve your ideas while developing critical thinking, creativity, and a strong vision of marketing as a tool for change.

Admission Requirements 

This minor is open to all bachelor students interested in meaningful marketing. If you have a creative mindset and care about making a social impact, this program is for you. No prior marketing experience is required, though it can be helpful. 

Rooster

The schedule includes a mix of workshops, coaching sessions, expert lectures, and project work. In the first half, you’ll work on an assignment for an external organization; in the second half, you’ll develop your own campaign. Weekly progress presentations and feedback moments with peers and professionals support your growth. The program is flexible and allows space for personal initiative and exploration.

Toetsing

You’ll be assessed through both group and individual assignments. In the first part, you’ll deliver a complete marketing concept for a client as a team. In the second, you’ll design and execute your own social impact campaign. You’ll also reflect on your learning process and present interim insights to peers. Your performance will be evaluated on concept quality, collaboration, social relevance, and your personal and professional development.

This minor is also offered in Dutch in semester 1 in Rotterdam and Amsterdam, and in semester 2 in Haarlem.
