The Bilingual Education Minor is for those students who would like to work in bilingual or international education in the future. The minor integrates language learning with the teaching of subject-specific content and will foster a deeper understanding of the use of English as the language of instruction in the classroom. The minor takes an interdisciplinary approach and aims to enhance students’ own proficiency in English, as well as giving new insights into the use of English in their chosen field of study.  Students will learn how to set up collaborative projects with international colleagues, as well as discovering more about organisations that can assist in this.

In teaching practice, students will learn:

- that/which subject specific English terminology is necessary to be learnt

- what challenges CLIL students and CLIL teachers face  

- what is expected of CLIL teachers

- what their personal feed forward is

 

In teaching practice, students will become (more) skilled at:

- teaching (parts of) lessons in English

- designing and executing lessons using CLIL didactics

- analysing CLIL students’ learning and CLIL teachers’ tasks

- setting CLIL-related personal learning goals, reflecting on their learning process, and formulating CLIL-related feed forward

All students of the Department of Education are eligible to follow the minor if they have a B2 level of English proficiency (CEFR) (minimum score of 7 at havo eindexamen or MBO English)

De minor gaat van start bij voldoende inschrijvingen. Toelating geschiedt op volgorde van inschrijving. Houd er rekening mee dat een minor niet door kan gaan vanwege te weinig aanmeldingen of dat een minor vol kan zijn.

Zorg ervoor dat je leerovereenkomst voor het einde van de inschrijfperiode ondertekend is en per mail bij de contactpersoon binnen is.

Let op; deeltijdstudenten betalen vaak een lager bedrag aan collegegeld dan het collegegeld dat voor de deeltijd of voltijdopleiding staat waar zij de minor willen volgen. Houd er rekening mee dat je in dat geval het verschil zelf dient te betalen.
