Journalism and media

Journalism and other forms of (news) media have become a fundamental part of our everyday lives. As citizens, we know about all aspects of public life through those media. We also express our views and opinions through those media. This minor is designed to achieve two things: on the one hand, it aims to introduce students to the production of journalistic pieces so that they can valuably contribute to the discussions on the marketplace of ideas. On the other hand, it fleshes out the workings and implications of the global media landscape, taking into account the psychological, political and economic perspectives.

This minor is meant for students who have successfully completed the first year of university. 

Literatuur

Weekly readings are taken from both the classics and the latest professional and academic publications about of journalism and media.

Testing: 

- 2 Portfolios: practical assignments based on lecturer’s. instructions 

-2 Masterproofs (Take-home written exams, comprising open questions) 

 

To pass this Minor, students have to score 5.5 for each of the four assessments spread over the whole semester.
