International Timber Trade

Wood is a unique material. It is not only renewable and sustainable, but also strong and versatile. You see wood applications everywhere: furniture, houses, tools, paper. Fortunately, we can grow wood, so there is plenty. But will that still be the case in the future?

Extensive globalization, emerging economies and increasing world population are putting our forests under pressure. Sustainable wood production is therefore very important.

Wood is one of the most transported materials in the world and has a long chain from forest to end product. That is what this minor is about. Do you want to learn about purchasing and sales, transport, woodworking and the associated laws and regulations? Get to know this dynamic sector in this minor.

In the varied study program we train you in business, forest management and wood in all its diversity. You understand the complex production and trade chain from start to finish, from the tree in the forest to a product delivered to the customer! In addition to commercial skills, you have in-depth product knowledge.

The minor is characterized by close collaboration with professionals from the field, for example through weekly excursions and a 'hands-on' approach to education.

This minor, which is unique to the Netherlands, is taught in English, due to the particularly international nature of the timber industry. It is also possible to follow the minor in Spanish or German.
