Art & architecture: resonance 2 (English)
We all know what it is like to be touched by someone's look or voice, by a piece of music or a place, a space we visit. It gives us goosebumps and makes our hearts beat faster.
Resonance is built on the experience of being touched or affected, but also by actually reaching out and influencing others ourselves, such as by creating something. When we talk about resonance, we are automatically also talking about encounter.
When something touches us, we cannot predict in advance, nor whether we will become "different" as a result. So when we talk about resonance and encounter we are also talking about the unpredictability of it. It can even feel strange....
Underlying this study cella is the book "Resonance - a sociology of our relationship to he world" by German philosopher and sociologist Hartmut Rosa.
The common thread for the study module is the idea that resonance emphasizes the balance between people and their (spatial) environment and the question of how could we shape this? By making an installation, a model, a performance, a text, a choreography... In any case, the subject can be approached from an architectural perspective, as well as from the visual arts, film, sociology, philosophy, and psychology.
Leerdoelen
Professionalization usually means learning to understand what is expected of you. The one who adapts the smartest is the most successful. In other words, the ability to adapt in relation to a demand e.g. the market or politics is a skill that is often seen as indispensable. This minor seeks to both intensify and nuance this view and connect professionalization with urgency rather than adaptation.
We do this by researching the phenomenon of resonance. Research on resonance leads us to ask with what pure, intrinsic motivation we do or do not do something.
The focus is on the integration of the ability to reflect theoretically with the ability to set oneself apart critically with and in the world through images. The ratio of theory, philosophy on the one hand and practice research on the other is 50:50.
Broadening the view of professionalism through an interdisciplinary approach, with emphasis on the interaction between visual art students, (interior) architecture students, actors, musicians and possibly contract students who feel challenged by the subject matter within their professional field.
